I have a skater boy.
This past Thursday I went with Liam on a field trip. We got back early and I, the only dad in the group, was hanging around with the rest of the moms. They went on and on about gymnastics and soccer and hockey and, and, and… Now I’m sure that someday I will have a soccer or baseball player, though hopefully not a hockey player (concussions or ice skates stabbing important arteries) or a gymnast (weird). But many of our kids are NOT EVEN 5 YET! Why are we strangling them with a stressful life of busyness at age FIVE?! Let kids be kids and find their own loves and activities (with the exception of setting fire to their toys of course).
So because he actually wanted to learn how to skateboard, I have a skater boy.
And a $20 skateboard for Christmas has become Liam’s pride and joy.
He can handle the stress of playing in the driveway with something he loves.
I don’t mind playing with skateboards at all. OOOH… maybe I can get one too!
