In the past few days, I’ve received multiple emails, tweets, and text messages from kidmin leaders. They’ve shared everything from God-stories to timely prayer requests to words of encouragement.

As I think back over my first years in ministry, I remember feeling like no one understood what it was like. I had a great boss and amazing co-workers, but they were all too close to the action to be objective.

Fast-forward through conferences, Facebook, Twitter, CM Connect, GroupMe, iChat, et all. I find that I’m surrounded by an amazing community of like-minded colleagues who have my back.

They know who they are… but maybe they don’t know why.

Gifted yet humble: I’m so thankful for people who are great at what they do, yet balance that with an appropriate level of humility. They are confident in their talents, but they don’t flaunt it. They are approachable.

Innovative and Collaborative: People can be innovative in a vacuum or they can innovate in community. I’m thankful for friends who gather the best in their field to make a good idea great.

They pray… a lot: Not only are these friends good at what they do, but they understand the source of their gifts. They pray specifically for each others needs. They are vulnerable about their own needs and aren’t afraid to ask for prayer.

Passion: they love what they do and aren’t afraid to let others know that. Each of them inspire me to live like I mean it.

Sense of humor: I love spending time with people who are willing to laugh at themselves and not take themselves so seriously. Life is a journey worth enjoying. I’m thankful to walk this life with people who love to laugh. A simple, funny text message or tweet from one of them can make my day.

All this to say, thank you. Thank you to the men and women in the kidmin community who breathe life into my ministry each and every day. I’m blessed beyond belief for having each of you in my life.

Who inspires you? What is it about them that you love? Tell them today.
